Job Title: Assistant Distribution Center Manager

Location: Kalamazoo, MI

About the Opportunity

The Assistant Distribution Manager has responsibility for all activities at his or her facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ultimate safety, quality and financial responsibility for Kalamazoo Warehouse, Inbound, Outbound and RDC Operations. - Must maintain a successful KQMS Program at the facility. - Creates a quality focused environment which maximizes Management and staff contributions to KQMS. - Maintain the Efficiency Improvement Program, perform observations, monitor progress, and offer improvements. - Builds strong relationships with customer sales force and logistics leadership team directly impacted by facility s distribution practices. - Problem solves and uses six sigma tools, Kenco, and Lean tools to analyze problems with the goal of identifying root causes and fostering continuous improvement. - Promotes a safe culture at the site, by implementing and following corporate best practices related to safety and security. - Trains and mentors site staff in order to promote the highest level of customer service and individual professional growth. - Assists in development of Operational SOP's into ISO 9001:2000 format. - Facilitate and document site training on SOPs, CPs, and safety/quality alerts. - Provides oversight for the Document Change process for the RDC. - Tracks, records and updates site performance via KPIs and other assigned operational management tools. - Develops, maintains, and provides Senior Management with monthly reports on efficiency and productivity as well as the overall condition of the sites QM Systems. - Performs Internal Audits at the site to monitor compliance to policies and processes. - Assists with load planning and logistical needs. - Must have a solid transportation background and an understanding of efficient transportation/routing principles. - Must have strong understanding of DOT Regulations and Hours of Service. - Misc. tasks as assigned by the Distribution Manager or Director of Operations.

May also be required to push, pull, or manipulate product weighing in excess of 1,500 pounds with mechanical and/or manual assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat and dust.

Education/Relevant Experience

Bachelor s degree (BA / BS) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or over 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Transportation and warehousing experience is a preferred.

Additional Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. - Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. - Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

- Good working knowledge of computers-word and excel a must. - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. - Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. - Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks. - Ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy and authority, when necessary. - Ability to generate reports and communicate verbally and/or in written form. - Ability to work with and maintain effective working relationships with others of all levels of authority. - Experience with WES or similar WMS system required. - Experience with Lean Logistics software platform, Whiteboard & Trails Database preferred.
