By using gases naturally present in the atmosphere, Air Liquide separates and purifies them into oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and various rare gases and then distributes them to clientele by pipeline, compression, cylinders, or in some cases, produced directly on a clients site. Air Liquide also uses other natural resources of gas to produce other gases caused by chemical reaction for their clients usage (hydrogen, carbon dioxide, acetylene, helium, ozone, carbon monoxide). Responsibilities: Air Liquide USA LLC is actively seeking a Technical Sourcing Specialist in their US headquarters located in Pasadena, Texas. The individual will perform (but not limited to) the following responsibilities: - Leading Sourcing activities for major purchases and turnarounds - Managing new and existing supplier relationships -Develop technical specifications and/or scopes of work -Investigate, qualify and recommend suppliers -Issue formal requests for quotes (RFQ's) -Lead job walks and bid clarification meetings -Complete Commercial and Technical Bid Tabs -Negotiate price and terms and making sourcing recommendations to plant managers -Document and report all cost savings associated with Sourcing Activities -Assist Corporate Supply Management for corporate purchase orders greater than $25K -Gather local data/requirements and leading job walks with suppliers -Manage sourcing activity for all major maintenance and plant turnarounds (TAR) -Support Corporate Supply Management Initiatives and Programs -Promote the Alaris process to manage suppliers and utilization of small business, veteran owned small business, HUB Zone small business, small disadvantaged business and women owned small business concerns as subcontractors -Expedite critical purchase orders as identified by internal customer -Resolve supplier quality issues -Manage purchasing activities such as preparing sourcing flies, supporting field buyers, and completing applications -Initiate contractor pre-screening, Level 1 clean, Level 2 clean and critical equipment supplier evaluations -Compliant to all Air Liquide safety practices and procedures and 100% attendance at local Air Liquide safety meetings Requirements: -Engineering degree with 2 years operations experience preferred, or extensive relevant operating experience -Knowledgeable on equipment and services utilized in the industrial gas business -Ability to quickly gather knowledge and understanding of new subjects from suppliers and experts -Ability to develop and author specifications and scopes of work -Understands and demonstrates knowledge of Professional Sourcing Process -Strong orientation toward savings and cost control -Exhibits effective negotiation, analytical and communication skills -Possesses the ability to prepare and evaluate bid packages -Applies tools and concepts of Good Purchasing and Logistics Practices -High degree of service orientation to build strong and value adding relationships -Strong interpersonal influence and impact skills and solid written and verbal communication skills -Self Starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work -Sound economic thinking skills with the ability to make informed and logical decisions PLEASE NOTE: Air Liquide will not accept resumes from third party vendors.
